The Prophecy

The Chosen One

An ancient Jedi prophecy foretold one who would bring balance to the Force. Qui-Gon Jinn believed he had found him in a nine-year-old slave on Tatooine — a boy with no father, an extraordinary connection to the Force, and a gift for speed.

Freed after winning the Boonta Eve podrace, Anakin left his mother, Shmi, behind and was trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi. He grew into one of the Republic's greatest heroes of the Clone Wars — brilliant, fearless, and haunted by the fear of losing those he loved.

Chapter I · The Phantom Menace

    The Boy from Tatooine

  2. Anakin Skywalker in dark Jedi robes holding his blue lightsaber

Chapter II · Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith

    The Jedi Knight

Obi-Wan's Padawan becomes a Jedi Knight and a celebrated general of the Clone Wars — "the Hero with No Fear." Yet the Council keeps him at a distance, and Chancellor Palpatine draws ever closer.

  3. Stylized artwork of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker back to back, a lightsaber between them, red and blue nebula behind

Chapter III · Attack of the Clones

    Forbidden Love

Assigned to protect Senator Padmé Amidala, Anakin falls in love despite the Jedi Code forbidding attachment. After the Battle of Geonosis, they marry in secret by the lake on Naboo.

  4. Anakin Skywalker glaring through the red, molten glow of Mustafar

Chapter IV · Revenge of the Sith

    The Fall

Tormented by visions of Padmé dying in childbirth, Anakin turns to Palpatine — secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious — who promises power to cheat death. He kneels, and is named Darth Vader.

  5. "Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes."

    — Anakin Skywalker to Luke, Return of the Jedi

Chapter V · Return of the Jedi

    Redemption

Decades later, his son Luke refuses to believe the good in him is gone. As the Emperor tortures Luke, Vader turns on his master and casts him down — dying as Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One at last.

"You were right. You were right about me."

Across the Stars

A Love the Jedi Forbade

A Jedi and a Senator. A wedding no one could know about. Every stolen moment in their story is shadowed by what's coming.

Anakin and Padmé gaze into each other's eyes, the towers of Coruscant behind them

Face to Face

Coruscant, in the last days of the Clone Wars. Husband and wife in secret — a Jedi Knight and a Senator who can never be seen together.

Padmé rests her head on Anakin's chest as the sun sets over the spires of Coruscant

Coruscant Sunset

On the veranda of Padmé's apartment, the couple hold each other as they await their child — and Anakin's nightmares of losing her begin.

"Hold me. Like you did by the lake on Naboo. So long ago, when there was nothing but our love. No politics, no plotting, no war."

The Hooded Apprentice

Newly turned to the dark side, the Sith-yellow eyes of Darth Vader burn beneath Anakin's hood.

The Fall

Everything He Feared,
He Caused

He turned to the dark side to save Padmé. On Mustafar, she begged him to come away with her. Blinded by rage and suspicion, he choked her with the Force — and lost her anyway.

"Anakin, you're breaking my heart. You're going down a path I can't follow." — Padmé Amidala

Master & Apprentice

The Duel on Mustafar

Brothers in all but blood, Obi-Wan and Anakin cross blades amid the lava rivers. Obi-Wan wins the duel — and leaves his apprentice burning on the shore. From the ashes rises Darth Vader in his armored suit.

"You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!" — Obi-Wan Kenobi
